Imperfection is the order of the day at this oasis of diversity in the heart of Essen's city center. 4000 square meters of creative diversity on 7 floors with 2 roof terraces, café, restaurant, seminar rooms, stages, workshops, studios and an adjoining hotel invite people with the most diverse needs ... including events with a manageable number of participants (camps, meetups, lectures, coworking, socializing).
After a period of experimentation, the Unperfekthaus (UPH) is now back to its familiar concept: you pay admission and get a drinks flat rate, i.e. hot and cold (non-alcoholic) drinks all day long. A buffet plate or an upgrade to an all-day buffet is also available for an additional charge.
If the doors remain open for interested parties at registered events, this also saves on the event budget.

The Unperfekthaus is "limited barrier-free", i.e. most areas are accessible for wheelchair users alone, but for some areas the help of an accompanying person or a member of the house staff is required. Our elevator car has internal dimensions of W 0.85m / H 2.10m / D 1.10m and door dimensions of W 0.69m / H 2.00m. A wheelchair of a suitable size is available for hire.

HDMI cables are attached to all screens and projectors to connect your notebook (or use Airplay or Cromecast). Remote control hangs next to it or you can get it downstairs at the counter. Musical instruments can also be used freely.
How to get there
- By car: The UPH has no parking spaces, but there is a 24-hour parking garage 3 minutes' walk away
- By bike: There are bike racks on Limbecker Platz directly in front of the building
- By train: Essen has an ICE train station. From there, it is a leisurely walk (approx. 20 minutes, albeit with cobblestones and slopes) through the pedestrian zone to UPH
- The nearest stop is Berliner Platz, which is served by subway lines U 11, U 17, U 18, streetcar lines 105 and 109 as well as several bus lines
